Engineering March Break fun 

Discover how engineering and engineering technology influence the world around us with fun activities designed by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers in celebration of National Engineering Month.

Activities include:

• Build and test your very own paper gliders. Discover the engineering behind building your airplane and then test it to see how far it’ll fly!
• Build your very own electrical circuits. Using aluminum foil, lights, and batteries, build and test your own circuit boards!
• Button making. Help make your own button to celebrate National Engineering Month and the CN Tower.
• Build your own structure. Explore principles of structural engineering or let your creativity flow with our K’Nex and Kapla building stations.
• Balloon Rockets. Test out how forces, mass and motion are connected. Make your very own rocket using string, a straw, tape and a balloon and watch it fly!

EdgeWalk is OPEN for March Break!

Due to popular demand, EdgeWalk will open during March Break (March 8 to 16) and then officially for the full season as of April 5, 2025. EdgeWalk is the World’s Highest Outdoor Walk on a Building (Guinness World Record).

Take a break from your routine and experience a fascinating piece of Hamilton history at Dundurn National Historic Site. On a guided tour of over 40 rooms in Dundurn Castle, discover what it was like to live and play above stairs and work and live below stairs. Join us in the Coach House Hayloft for free family-friendly crafts and activities. Your admission to Dundurn Castle includes admission to The Hamilton Military Museum – visit this neighbouring Museum for a self-guided experience with dress-up and engaging activities, while exploring the historical figures who lived in Hamilton during the War of 1812 and the 1837 Rebellion.

Be the first campers to play in our new Everyday Superheroes Exhibition! Experience the science and technology behind our favourite community superheroes like Doctors, Firefighters, and Artists. This interactive full-day art camp is an opportunity to explore the McMichael’s exhibitions, discover new artists and artistic styles, and creatively experiment with various artmaking methods in a safe studio environment.

March Break at the Museum

Looking for family-friendly activities during March Break? Feed your curiosity and travel back in time at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons! With take-home crafts, historical demonstrations, storytelling and more, we guarantee your journey to the 17th century will be both educational and fun. No time machine, or reservations, required.

Adventure is calling!  Spend some time outdoors making new memories.  Hike trails winding through an old growth forest. Explore new heights from the longest suspension bridge in Southern Ontario, and take in the views from look out point at the top of the Niagara Escarpment. Family friendly activities include children’s adventure playground, pathway of wooden animal carvings and a scavenger hunt. Other activities available weather dependent may include snowshoeing, mini-golf and Rocky the Train Ride.

This year is all about hobbies and handcrafted items at Castle Kilbride. For March Break the museum will be focusing on fun hobbies! Participate in our Timeless Toys Eye Spy tour throughout the Castle, then play with unique old-fashioned toys and make your own wonder spinner toy to take home.
